Silo

About Silo

Silo lets you control what AI knows. Starting with memory and extending to every service you connect.

Why Silo?

AI is the most powerful tool most people have ever used. But everything you create with it — your memory, your context, your accumulated thinking — belongs to whoever built the model.

Your ChatGPT history can't move to Claude. Your conversations reset when you switch tools. Your data compounds inside platforms that use it to train, optimize, and sell. You get convenience. They get ownership.

Silo was built to fix that. Not by replacing AI, but by putting a layer between you and every model — a layer you control.

Own Yourself

Silo was built around one simple idea: Own Yourself.

Our mission is to empower people to own and control the data in systems they use every day. That starts with AI memory — the most personal, most rapidly accumulating data most people don't realize they're giving away. But it doesn't stop there.

When you own your memory, you can move it between models. When you connect services like Google, Dropbox, and Plaid through Silo, you control which AI can access them and under what conditions. When you create a .silofile, you're packaging knowledge in a format that's portable, shareable, and governed by you — not interpreted by a platform.

Privacy is our foundation. Ownership is our product. Portability is our growth engine.

What we're building

Silo is one system with multiple surfaces:

The Silo App

A model-agnostic AI assistant on iOS. Talk to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and local models through a single interface. Your memory builds on-device, encrypted, and travels with you across every model.

explore.onesilo.com

A web surface where anyone can interact with public .silo files. No download required. Browse, query, and experience the format directly.

connect.onesilo.com

Your dashboard for connected services. See what's linked, manage access policies, audit what's been shared, and revoke access instantly.

The .silo format

An open file standard for portable, structured knowledge. PDFs made documents portable. MP3s made music portable. .silo makes knowledge portable. The spec is published. SDKs are live in Swift and TypeScript.

These aren't four products. They're four surfaces of the same system. Your memory, your services, and your policies live in one place — your Silo — and every surface reads from it.

Intelligence on your side

Every AI that wants your data asks Silo first. Silo checks your rules before sharing anything — PII scrubbing, audit trails, 2FA approval, access revocation. These aren't enterprise features bolted on after the fact. They're built into Silo from day one.

The models are powerful. Silo makes sure they work for you, not on you.

Control what AI knows

When you use Silo, you decide:

What AI remembers — and what it forgets.

Which models can access your services — and which can't.

What to share with a collaborator — and what stays private.

When to switch models — without losing a single piece of context.

That's what control means. Not hiding from AI. Directing it.

Silo began from seeing firsthand how memory, context, and identity break when owned by platforms rather than by users. The same patterns that fragmented financial identity across banking apps are now fragmenting AI identity across models. Silo is the fix.
